Acne Myths You Should Not Believe
A lot of people think that acne is a mysterious condition. This is because they may have smooth and acne-free skin one day and experience acne breakouts the next. For this reason, it is not surprising that there are a lot of acne myths that abound and people believe these myths because they are not informed of the real deal. So what are the top acne myths today? Here is a list:
1. Acne is caused by poor hygiene. While it is important to have good hygiene, you should not wash your skin too frequently and use harsh products to kill “bacteria”. This is because acne cannot be removed by vigorous scrubbing; in fact, it may worsen because of it.
2. Acne is caused by diet. Eating healthy food will contribute to your skin’s health but currently, there is no scientific proof that a poor diet will directly result to acne.
3. Acne is caused by stress. The stress you experience in everyday living is not an essential factor in acne. However, if you are using certain prescriptions to treat stress, the side effect may be acne.
4. Acne can cure itself. While it is true that most acne will clear up by themselves, you can speed up this process by using treatments that will also prevent acne scars.
